Spiritually speaking...do you think I could have handled the situation better...?

I went to a movie with someone. I chose bruno because I read on several statuses on facebook that it was funny. The other person chose the two other movies we've seen. We sat through about 5 min. It wasn't what I was expected and could see the other person was uncomfortable. I asked did they want to see something else. He said definitely. We went into something else but it had already started so I asked did he want me to pay for his ticket and that we just leave. We did. I gave him $7 but he gave me $3 back. I apologized a couple of times. He said I could never pick the movie again. I asked this from his perspective but only got 2 answers.
