Fathers: How do you feel about your daughter having guy friends?

i know im not a father... or a mother at that fact, but i strongly believe that parents should not control their kids, they should simply guide them and advice them to whats right or wrong. when their younger they should be disciplined of course but as they get to teens they should be able to make their own decisions with your guidance, not being told what to do. this will make them more independent and have a better relationship with your parents. my mums like that she wont force me to not talk to someone, or say im not allowed boyfriends. but she talks to me alot about different situations shes been in which has taught me things to be weary of. and me and my mum have a really good relationship, and i know that i would do as she wanted just to respect her even though i could go against her wishes. anyway the moral of these ramblings is that the parent should not discourage any friendships at all, the child would end up resenting you for it and will try to rebel.
